On several dishwashers, the bottom plate, or kick plate, is the location of the motor and water pipes. If you need to access this area for repairs, maintenance or general cleaning, you must properly remove the plate. Failure to properly remove it may cause damage to the machine or parts inside. Removing the plate yourself will help save the cost of a plumber or repair service.
1
Pull the dishwasher out and unplug it. There are electronics under the dishwasher that could become exposed and hazardous if the power supply is still connected.

2
Examine the sides of the dishwasher. There are usually screws located on either side of the plate to hold it in place.
3
Use a screwdriver to remove all of the screws and set them aside.
4
Pull at the top of the plate and expose the insulation strip. This strip keeps water from leaking out of the dishwasher.
5
Glide your hand along the insulation strip and carefully pull it off the base plate.
6
Lift up on the plate and pull it out from the bottom to completely remove it. Reverse the instructions to install the plate again.
